Teeth Whitening

A Brighter Smile

A bright smile can help you feel confident and look amazing. Today, there are a number of options available to help you reach your goal. Finding the best solution for your lifestyle that’s also a fit for your budget can be a bit daunting. We feel an informed patient is a happy patient, so that’s why we want you to learn more about your teeth whitening options.

Teeth Whitening at the Dentist’s Office

At the dentist’s office, you can receive a professional and safe teeth-whitening experience. During the appointment, the dentist carefully applies a whitening solution to your teeth. In most cases, this service only takes about 90 minutes to complete. You’ll begin to see the results before you even leave the office!

Whitening with Trays

Your dentist can also help you whiten your teeth at home. This option uses whitening gel and custom-fitted trays provided by your dentist, ensuring that your teeth are fully covered by the gel. To ensure fast results, the gel contains a high concentration of peroxide. You can wear these trays for as little as 1/2 hour per day. Full treatment may take up to two weeks, but you may see results in just a few days.

Whitening Strips

Teeth-whitening strips are simple strips of plastic coated with a film of hydrogen peroxide that stick to your teeth. When you’re ready to wear the strips, you simply press them to your teeth. Because the strips are not custom-made for your teeth, it can be a challenge to ensure a complete application of the whitening solution. Most of these teeth whitening kits recommend wearing the strips for 30 minutes, twice a day. Depending on the present shade of your teeth, it may take a number of kits to achieve the look you want.

Toothpaste and Mouthwash

At your local grocery or drug store, you can usually find a number of inexpensive toothpastes and mouthwashes that claim to whiten your teeth. Most of these products work by removing residue and stains with abrasive ingredients. These products generally cannot lighten the natural shade of your teeth. You may see some improvement, but you are unlikely to see the same significant results that can be attained using professional treatment modalities.

Paint-On Whitening

Paint-on teeth whitening provides an alternative for those who don’t want to wear strips on their teeth. This option can typically be purchased without a prescription at some drug stores. The kit includes a cleaning gel and a small brush. After you apply the solution to your teeth with the brush, the gel will harden into a thin film. Although this option is attractive, owing to its low cost, the product will rarely provide results comparable to professional methods.
